Heating Professional - Weatherization Combustion Safety Testing is a one-day training that covers the combustion safety testing process and WAP program requirements. This course includes a three hour hands-on segment that allows participants to conduct combustion safety tests on a variety of gas powered appliances.

- New Crew Basics is a two-day course that provides the participant with the basic knowledge required to weatherize a home. Topics include: Building Science, Construction Basics, Air leakage, Insulation, HVAC, Health & Safety, and Ethics. Participants will receive hands-on training on attic prep, duct sealing, and proper operation of a Blower Door and Pressure Pan.
A pre- and post-test will be administered and participants must score a 70% on post-test to pass course.
New Crew Basics is required for all new hires within 90 days of start date. - Weatherization Assessment is a three-day course that provides participants with the basic knowledge needed to assess a home for weatherization needs. Topics include: Math Primer, Building Science, Deferral Standards, Inspection Process, Assessment Measures, and Assessment Inspection Tools. Participants will receive field training where they will assess a crawlspace and attic, perform combustion appliance safety tests, and a blower door test.
A pre- and post-test will be administered and participants must score a 70% on the post test to pass the course.
Successful completion of the New Crew Basics course is a precursor to enrollment in Weatherization Assessment. - Lead Certified Renovator is a one day course that prepares participants as they become EPA Certified Renovators. Lead RRP (Renovation, Repair, and Painting) trainings offered at Southface are certified by the EPA, so successful completion of this training is accepted in the EPA application to become a Lead Certified Renovator.
- Crew Chief Training is a three-day course intended for individuals who are responsible for overseeing a crew in the field. Skills such as Leadership, Time Management, Quality Control, Patience and Peer-to-Peer Training are covered using advanced Weatherization concepts. Participants will also learn several advanced skills, such as Combustion Appliance Safety Testing and Advance Pressure Diagnostics. The course includes a field visit where participants will perform several skills taught in the classroom.
